President's Message

Greetings and best regards to everyone.

As an introduction, concerned educators, parents, and individuals decided to form an association for promoting the welfare and education of individuals with special needs in Malaysia, and hence we together launched such an association and had it registered as the Persatuan Pendidikan Khas Kebangsaan (National Association of Special Education Malaysia) on December 24, 2009.

We firmly believe equal access to every opportunity for all, including individuals with special needs. There is much to be done and, therefore, we continuously seek partnerships and collaborations with government and private agencies to help us leverage the constraints and challenges that lie ahead in the area of special needs.

Last, but not the least, I would like to welcome all parties, including our new members, to participate in the activities of our association.

About Us: Promoting Inclusive Education

Vision

To be the leading national voice in advocating for the rights, dignity, and inclusive education of all individuals with special needs in Malaysia, ensuring they achieve their fullest potential and active participation in society.

Mission

Advocacy: Championing policies that enhance the quality and accessibility of special education services.
Professional Development: Providing continuous training and resources for special education educators and practitioners.
Community Building: Fostering strong partnerships between families, government bodies, and NGOs.
Research: Supporting and disseminating research that informs evidence-based practices in special education.

Objectives

To increase public awareness and acceptance of individuals with special needs.
To organize and host national conferences, workshops, and seminars on special education trends.
To establish a centralized resource hub for educational materials and assistive technology.
To provide consultation and support services to parents seeking educational options for their children.

The association operates through three specialized bureaus, each with specific functions to ensure the smooth running of all initiatives, events, and programs organized by the association.

Functions

Identifies research areas in special education and encourages members to submit research for publication. Currently publishes the Journal of Special Needs Education annually, welcoming manuscripts from researchers in Malaysia and worldwide.
